Hi there!
Here are 5 things I thought were worth sharing.
“anxiety → so-what attitude → concentration / devotion”
This is a quote from a book that I read this week, called 没頭力 (Botto-ryoku). I translated the quote, so it might not be the exact meaning. Here is what it means.
In order for us to concentrate or devote in our lives, we need to feel anxious first. We know that being anxious doesn’t solve anything. As we realize that, we tend to have the so-what attitude, which is good because it is easier for us to concentrate on things when we have the attitude. In short, “anxiety → so-what attitude → concentration / devotion” is the formula to be able to concentrate on something / devote ourselves to something.
Reading more books helps me read faster.
没頭力 was about 200 pages long. I read it within 2 hours. This is not normal for me because when I was a high school student, I hated reading. it took me about 1 month to finish a book. Yes, 1 month. I could only read a few pages at once because reading so boring for me at the time. Nowadays, I read almost every day. Reading every day has helped me read so much faster.
Getting feedback is key to improve.
I have been working with an editor my writing job. She has given me such accurate feedback on my writing and I feel that I’m improving.
Ayurveda
Ayurveda is an alternative medicine system with historical roots in the Indian subcontinent. The theory and practice of Ayurveda is pseudoscientific. Ayurveda is heavily practiced in India and Nepal, where around 80% of the population report using it. - Wikipedia
My professor and mentor is retiring from teaching this school year, so I went to see her this week. I got to see her last lecture, which was held only for professors, but she got an approval for me to join. She talked about Ayurveda which I never heard of. It makes me re-think about my health. I usually sit at my desk and stare at a screen all day, so it was a reminder for me to get up and do some exercise.
La Última by Aitana
I listen to Spanish songs as I majored in Spanish in university. One of my favourite Spanish artists is Aitana. I haven’t listened to her songs after 2023 began, sometime this week, I was on Spotify and searched her name. She has released a new album! Quiero is my favourite.
My thoughts on Mean Girls the Musical
I went to watch Mean Girls the Musical in Tokyo, Japan. It was AWESOME! I got to see my favourite actor, Erika Ikuta! She was super pretty and cool at the same time. I can’t believe she is just one year older than me. She gave me the power to do more! Sorry if I’m being too otaku. haha
I hope you have a great week!
Thanks for reading,
